HS2 Works Notification: Update: Upcoming and ongoing work at Victoria Road Crossover Box site, 10 May to late June 2021

From 10 May to late June 2021 , we will be carrying out piling works in the Victoria Road Crossover Box site. These works will take place during our core working hours of 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm Saturdays as required.

Bored piling uses a rotary rig to remove spoil, replacing it with reinforced concrete piles that withstand tension. These piles provide a strong concrete foundation that will support structures with heavy loads. To minimise the impact of these works to our neighbours the following mitigations methods will be in place:

• Monitor ground movement, noise and dust to ensure this is kept to a minimum

• Continue to dampen down areas of the site if required to reduce the amount of dust generated by construction activities

• Continue to monitor our construction methods to minimise disruption to the local community

Works are ongoing to build a ventilation shaft and prepare for future works to build the Victoria Road Crossover Box. Works taking place during spring 2021 include:

• Ongoing construction of on-site road and drainage

• Construction of storage areas

• Ground preparations to build working platforms for future crossover box construction, including the installation of a guide wall

• Ongoing construction of the ventilation shaft and concrete ring installation

• Installation of site welfare facilities, including utility connections

• Works to set up bentonite plant and bending yard

• Piling works to prepare for construction of the Victoria Road Crossover Box

For more information please see our update works notification.
