Update on the closure of Bethune Road and temporary parking suspensions on School Road

On 8 January 2018, Bethune Road was permanently closed to become part of the HS2 Victoria Road Crossover Box site.

Also at that time the direction of vehicle travel was reversed along School Road with traffic now exiting onto Victoria Road only.

In order for our contractor to establish the Victoria Road Crossover Box site, hoarding will be erected around the perimeter of the site. At the moment heras fencing is in place (see photo below) and over the course of the next two/three weeks this will be replaced with secure timber hoarding.

It is very important to undertake this work safely and as a consequence the vehicle parking along the south side of School Road has been temporarily suspended. This is ensure that there is a safe working zone for our contractor and passing vehicles when the hoarding begins to go up from week commencing 5 February 2018.

Please see the attached update notice that has been delivered to businesses along School Road and contains further details on the temporary parking suspension and the process of erecting the hoardings.

For a map and timeline of other upcoming activities please see the ‘Find out more’ section.
