What are we doing?

We are continuing our trial hole investigations programme along Victoria Road and School Road which will require traffic management.

Additionally, surveys of Victoria Road are due to take place to support the upcoming improvement scheme on Victoria Road.

Trial Hole Investigations

In order to safely carry out the trial hole investigation works that are scheduled to take place on Victoria Road and School Road there will be a requirement to install temporary traffic management.

Investigation will be undertaken across the entire width of each road, however, work will only take place on one lane at a time to ensure that traffic flow is maintained throughout the process.

School Road: from 25 April 18 to 09 May 18; a single lane closure will take place first on the northern section of carriageway, followed by a single lane closure on the southern section. To support this, a small amount of parking bays (6-8 in total) will be suspended to allow the works to be carried out in a safe manner.

Victoria Road: from 10 May 18 to 22 May 18; a single northbound lane closure will take place on Victoria Road, outside of the Europa Studios. This will be followed by a single southbound lane closure, outside of Europa Studios.

During both trial holes investigations, we will maintain a single line of traffic on each road.

What to expect from the utility investigations

Improvement Scheme Surveys

We plan to carry out an improvement scheme of the cycle path along Victoria Road during 2019. To ensure we employ the appropriate methods for improvement, we will need to undertake surveys along the entire length of the road. To complete these investigations, there will be a requirement for a full road closure of Victoria Road, with a duration of 3 nights .

The surveys are due to take place during the week commencing 14th May 18 for 3 nights ; between the 22:00pm to 05:00am . The road will be open to public use as normal during daylight hours. Access for residents will be maintained.

We recognise that construction work can be disruptive to those living or working nearby. The nature of our work often means some disturbance is unavoidable, but please be assured that every effort is made to minimise any unnecessary noise and we have reminded all staff and contractors to be considerate of the environment they are working in.
